Well my Father-In Law started up my GN & said that it was smoking & started to over heat. He checked the overflow & yes it had antifreeze in it. It was also making some knocking sound. I will be going down to Michigan this month to check on the car. I'm looking into the RJC Head Gasket Kit. Does anybody have some experience with this kit? Can I re-use my ARP head bolts? What else will I need? What will I need to clean the heads off with? All advice is very helpful,

Ted you can get some hands on experience in Feb when I do mine:D Ya you can use the bolts again. I have a set of Felpro and stock head gaskets. Think I'm going with the stockers see ya next month.

Dan

Where in MI is your car? I am in Saginaw

I put the RJC kit on my car last year and it has worked well. I just got done checking my head bolts and none have loosened up in the last year.

If you have a 12 sec car I would reuse the ARP bolts, if faster or running rediculous boost I wouldnt.

You will need a set of intake gaskets, and some sealer for the head bolts as some go through water jackets.

Your heads whould be easy to clean, if they have any material on them a rubber wheel will take the material off.

One thing though. The car SHOULD NOT be knocking. I hope the gasket going didnt take out your main bearings. Has your old man been driving the car?

Prudenville, MI...

BlackBuick87, My GN is sitting in a garage at my In-Laws. I came home from Alaska (US Army) a few months ago & drove the piss out of it. I hadn't seen my car in two years & was used to driving my Wife's 02 Mustang GT. I missed the Power of the Dark Side. After drving it, I heard a slight knock. My Father-In Law has been starting it to keep it right. I did the damage. I hope it's not bad! I just bought a new TE-45A that I will be bringing down from AK. The car should be ten second capable once I get some electric gremlins figured out.

Dan, I need to hook you up with a couple of GN Guys I know up here. I'm on the hook for a deployment in January 04. They are trying to push it back to mid or late January & I just found out on Wednesday of last week...

If you are going to run tens I would not reuse the head bolts, I would get studs and you wont have to worry about it again

Make sure the sound isnt an exhaust leak, and find the general place its coming from (top, bottom, front, etc)

Let me know if you have any Q's on the gasket install
