Well, a little backround: I was driving normal and at the point
of lock-up, there was a forceful jerk of the car. I kept driving
and it would not lock-up anymore. I nursed it home and heard
a popcorn sound comming from the torque converter.
I pulled the converter out, it had a lot of loose parts in it. The converter was somehow destroyed. I cleaned out the trans 2 times to remove the junk from the fluid. I put back my L/U Vigilante and drove it. It shifts strong but no L/U. I changed the selenoid and checked the plunger. Still shifts good but no L/U.
At 65 mph cruise on x-pressway rpm's are 2500.
I did the brake test in 3'rd and @ 45mph and no L/U. Here's what I checked:
Brake switch: 12V @ harness, goes to 0 when depressed.
Vaccum switch above brake switch: 12V @ 3 line harness.
4-line switch on the trans: 12V
Force L/U with a manual switch: no L/U
Torque Converter: L/U
What else could it be?
Thanks.
