anti theft? no crank

im kinda new to the regals but my 87 gn has a intermittent no crank issue. after looking at the wiring diagrams from alldata it shows that if the wire off of the ignition switch is purple it does not have a VAT system and if it is purple and white then it does. well mine DOES and it will not turn over most of the time, every once in a while ive tried it and it works but only the once i cant get it to repeat. is there a thread on bypassing it or fixing it that i cant find or can someone guide me in the right direction:frown:, please
