Does anyone here own or enjoy antique tractors? Specifically IH Farmall?

I'm about to acquire a 1940-1953 Farmall "H" narrow frt. end.(I don't know the exact year yet, it was my fathers and he just passed away 2 weeks ago.) And a good friend of mine has a 1957 130 "high-clear" model.

We are both planning to restore our tractors in the near future and then show them. They are both in good running condition and both have been in our famililes since new. Hopefully our children will grow up with an appreciation for them also so they stay in the family for generations to come.

I'm also hoping to find out the value of both tractors, especially his '57 high-clear as I've been told it is pretty rare. Anyone have any info to share???

Go by your local Tractor Supply Store and get a copy of one of the several vintage tractor magazines.

In most of these you will find there are several guides regarding assessment, appraisal, restoration, price guides, etcetera, advertised within their classifieds.

There are several hardback & soft cover books on the same topic(s), in the Transportation/Farming section at Barnes & Noble, as well as Books-A-Million, that provide comprehensive resource indexes of the hobby/trade.

There are several monthly newspaper-print "Old Tractor" publications available by subscription that are the tractor equivalent of Hemmings.

And, there are continuous "Old Tractor" swap meets, shows, & sales all across the country, year-round.

(The last we attended was in Chambersburg, PA.)

I have messed with old tractors for most of my life and currently farm 354 acres using a 1970 1456 IH,1967 1206 IH,1966 1206 IH,1967 Oliver 1950 with the screamin 4-53 Detroit,1967 D-21 Allis Series II,and a 1961 460 Farmall.

I grew up on a 1949 M Farmall,1944 B JD,and an 8N Ford.

Red Power Round Up will be held in June this year at Bloomsburg,PA .I went to the one at Penfield,Ill last July and there were 1500 older IH's there.

I still have my 1985 and 1986 T-Type Regals but am too busy to get on here much like I used too.
