Anyone else have the bug I have w/ fishing? I see alot discussed here, and as car guys I know we have more than one vice. Its gettin cool in Atl, and the fishing has sucked last few weeks. Although, we got 3 over 5 lbs last month (never on tournament day, always in practice)
Share where you are and what you are doin well with.
Down here, its slow deep cranking, and 4-5" plastic worms or tube baits (green pumpkin red flake) in 10-15' edge of ledges and humps for quality size.

Man I was a serious tourney fisherman for years. Got back into TR's and lost that spare time. I still pond fish but I still have my Triton:biggrin:

I'm more into the offshore saltwater stuff- this was off San Diego:

A quick story- We went out about 80 miles- left at about 2AM, and at about 7AM we put the lures in the water and started trolling. Don (the big guy next to my son) goes down below to catch a nap......reels start screamin', and Don (all 270 lbs!) comes flying out of the cabin, right into the pictured bloodbath. He fished in his socks for over 2 hours!

Your lucky to have year round fishing. ( ice fishing is too boring for me ).
Up here in the great white north , the colder water limits the growth of the bass. +5 lbs pritty rare for lrg mouth. I pack the canoe on the Monte and head up the river every year with the boys around fathers day. The bass season usually just opens. I had good luck with a floating lure cast right into the lilly pads , 2 - 5' water. The green plastic worm on a weedless set up worked good too. Most of the time a northern pike takes the bait.
Wish I had more time, but Im commited to head to the remote lake once a year with the same guys. ( 28 yrs on a row ). Check out some pics of the last outing here
This is my bro and I below landing/releasing average size Northern Pikes. Used a Williams silver on my line. Lot of 20+ pounders lurking in the lake here. Can't wait for June now.

Triton for the win. My dad is friends w/ Earl Bentz (created Triton, javelin, Hydro sport and Stratos), and was on the original Triton/Southern Comfort Conversions Anglers Team "SCAT" that did all B.A.S.S. in the 90s. We've had every brand boat you can think of in his 30 years as a pro, nothing beats a Triton in our mind. We are now down to three boats, the old tournament boat (he retired in 99) a 15' River Hawk for big ponds w/ 2 50lb thrust motors, and a 10' Bass Pro Shop 2 man deal to throw in the truck for small ponds w/ 2 42 lb trollers.
I'll definately get into the forum, I got hooked a few years back, and fish 3 times a week generally. I attached a pic of a recent catch....not a hawg, but a nice one none the less, this was 6lb 13 oz, on a white buzz bait.....

I love to fish. I also have the speed bug on the water also, thats why I own an Allison XB 2003 W/ 260 Merc. on it. 97 MPH, I never have to worry about someone beating me to my fishing spot.

This is trout time!!!! We have been beating them up lately. In the spring and summer we small mouth fish around here. We float small streams with these:Outcast Sporting Gear | PAC Discovery Series Pontoon Boats

Man i wish i had more pics, all on zip disc and i dont have zip drive anymore.

You tie your own bugs floating for Trout? During the spring run of Steelhead i sometimes use scammer bears..lol green and orange work best and tasty too

Yeah I met Earl, he is a super nice man. I went to the Int. Boat Show in Miami with a friend to meet him. It was an awesome experience. He actually put me on the Triton team for 03:biggrin: The dealer my boat arrived at was so cool about he, he said "you bought it cheaper than I can order them."

I have had two TR22's kept the last one. Started to buy a new 21X every year since but I just love my 22. It will do 80+ so it is fast enought. I fish alot of coastal rivers so it can get rough. The extra foot helps!

If you ever come up to NC call me maybe we can hit some hog holes:biggrin:

I use to Bass fish all the in the 70's and early 80's. Alot of it was in farm ponds around Greenville, NC, best place was the cement plant lakes. I then started fishing tourments on the big lakes and that is where I meet my calling. I was throwing a Bagleys DB3 foil shad with a blue back to a long point on Lake Norman and got a nice hookup. This fish almost tore my rod and reel up, got it in and it was a 17 lb. striped bass. I have been a striper fisherman after that day. Now insteas of a Ranger I have a 21ft. Lund and instead of running 80+ MPH I run 2 to 2.5 MPH and am Happy. I still like to bass fish in farm ponds just don't have the time to do it as much as I like. I will say this, I have caught more 10+ pound large mouth bass while trolling for stripers than I ever did by bass fishing only.

A few Pics.

We use Yozuri cranks, Mepps, and Roostertails mostly. If the river is up and running good we drift shad. In the summer we use flies but set up on a spinning rig. Bumble bee colors seem to work best around here.

We throw Yum Crawpappies in the spring and summer for smallies.

Y'all keep posting pics of the size of bait we use in Texas!

Couple of trout from last weekend:

That brownie is the biggest we have seen come out of this river. The fishabale part of the river is only like 1 mile long and its stocked 4 times a year by KYFW. Most fish we catch are roughly the size of the others pictured or smaller.

Been out of it for a few years but was really addicted at one time. Wanted to learn everything there was to learn about bass, what made them tick, reliable patterns for all four seasons, what they did and why they did it when they did it. Did a lot of tourneys and had a great time tinkering with fast hulls and go fast mods too. Still got a pretty good handful of hard and soft baits and rod and reels in the basement gathering dust. Released several 9 lb fish waiting for a double digit.....11- 2 from Jordan lake.
