I thought I read a while back about problems with buying a used torque convertor. I've searched the board, and can't seem to find anything about it now.
If there's a low mileage TC for sale, is it ok to buy? Thanks.

Risky at best. I did it once and immediately sent it off to be cut open and gone through. If a convertor lets go it will take out your trans with trash. Not worth it. Just my 02

It's kind of like playing Russian roulette with a gun that is missing only one bullet.

I'm getting one right now, BUT I wouldn't do it if he wasn't sending it off to the manufacturer to be flushed and checked, then THEY are shipping it to me.

How much are you looking to spend? There are some good options out there. I spent $175 or so on a Pro Torque out of Melbourne and got a 2800-3000 stalland i like it alot. I actually bought it used form someone i knew and i worked okay. When i got a new trans, i took it back and they rebuilt it for like $60. And when i asked about a warranty they said " if you break it just bring it back". That was 2.5 years ago.
