I'm Verizon management. I haven't gotten a strike assignment yet 'cause I'm 272. They say we won't, but from what I've been told we may get sucked in after a few weeks. Some of my buds have already gotten assignments.
My brother was an installer for VZ 'til he got laid off in December. He didn't go back, though, despite the (forced) invitation to come back. He already has another job and collected the back pay anyway.
I've been in telecom since I got outta skool ('91), but I'm relatively new to Verizon - 2 years. I really don't understand the "us vs. them" mentality you see sometimes between the management and "associates". But it is what it is. I hope whatever the outcome is that it's best for all of us. Telecom is a tough place to be nowadays regardless of which "side" you're on.
