IT's BS.

We went through this last year at V8buick.... I actualy ponied up and went 4 tanks with it in my 96 Grand am GT.

Initially there seemed to be an increase, but after the first tank... everything went back to it's normal range.

I fill up at the same station, drive the same roads at the same times, in FL in the wintertime the weather is identical, and I made NO other changes to the car..

I did notice that Pure Acetone DOES NOT like Rubber AT ALL... it ate through the rubber bulb of the siphon I used to insert it into the tank... No noticable effects to the car though, but I did stop after 4 tanks.... Milage didn't decrease afterwards either.

And if unloading the 20lbs of weight that make up the spare tire increases 2mpg:eek: , I'll just go on a diet and triple that:rolleyes:

EDIT: Found the link... Enjoy Anyone tried adding acetone to gas to get a 35% boost in MPG?? - V8Buick.com

This was tried here a while back and nothing happened. The Rx-7 boards discovered this and are saying is the best thing since sliced bread! One of the more intellegent guys(very few over there) said that Acetone allows you to add water to your fuel and it will blend properly...so you can water down your gas w/o adverse effects, but I dont know.
