My hydroboost is leaking power steering fluid down the firewall. I want to keep it stock. I am not at all interested in converting it to vacuum so please do not suggest it although I realize it is less troublesome. Has anybody used a rebuilt unit, and if so are you satisfied with it and where did you get it at ??? I did find that Jay's GN parts on the net has them with a 1 year warranty for $150. I just want to check them out before I buy.

I have an '84 and had to replace the stock hydroboost unit. I got the replacement from GM but that was a while back. GM probably doesn't stock it anymore but since they're installing them in trucks (my '02 K2500HD has one) who knows? If not GM, any local auto parts store should carry them. You should also check some of the vendors who sponsor this site. Maybe others will chime in with their suggestions.

Good luck.

Hydroboost

Try the search using hydroboost I have seen some write ups

I replaced mine after it leaked fluid under the carpet. I don't remember which autoparts store I got it from but it was a common local store and I've had no problems in the 4 years it's been on the car. I wouldn't go with vacuum either, I like the pedal feel of the hydroboost better plus I run 245/50/16 G-force tires on the front and the hydroboost has no problems locking them up.

Thanx for the input, I would have never even thought of a local auto parts store, just think they would not have them in the first place. This is actually my 2nd hydroboost, I remember it being replaced while still under warranty due to it leaking.

The hydroboost came in alot of cars. They should be fairly easy to find at most auto parts stores.

I purchased one at O'Reily's for around $185 about 8 months back.
