I live in Illinois and will be driving to GA to visit my brother in Marietta. I am afraid of having a real boring time as he isn't too good at researching and planning stuff. I would like to go to Atlanta Motor Speedway on Friday Aug. 10 for the Friday Night Drags. Their website only shows a car show that night at 8:00 PM which seems totally rediculous to me. Does anybody know when the drag racing starts? I ASSume it must end before the car show starts? Also if anybody plans on racing or spectating that night please email me and we can hook up. I've never been there before. Thanks! My email is:

I normaly don't go to the ATL strip, too crowded. But I'll check my work schedule to see what I have planed.

I'm not committed to that dragstrip. If there is a better one near Marietta/Atlanta that's fine with me.

Never been there myself. A buddy when awhile back and said there was no tree, just a flagger. He said there was some real nice street cars there.
I think most tracks in Georgia is farther down, Eatonton, Twiggs, and Albany.

Just a flagger? Do they at least have a timer or is it like on Pinks with a guy at the finish line and a walkie talkie? Plus it costs $20 to get in. Not a very good deal. Maybe I'll check into the other tracks on the web and see what else is around there. Thanks for the help.

I go to Reynolds, Ga (silverdollar raceway) from were you'll be it's a good 2 hour drive. Even for me it's 1 hour 45 minutes, but I take back roads. I can get a good 9 passes in with no problem if I get there at opening. My car wouldn't be ready for the track as I need to still replace the valve springs. It's $10 to watch and $20 to race. ;)

It is just like Pinks. Just a flagger and a spotter at the end. No time slips. You race down Pit Row. A good number of people show up. I work just down the street in Griffin. I would like to run my car in their stock class,,,regular street tires, but due to the larger turbo I do not know if they would let me.
