I am about ready to pull the motor out of my car and I was thinking about taking it to Aggressive Performance in Detroit area for a freshen up...I want the following done to it

ported and polished stock heads, intake manifold
206/206 flat tappet cam
retain stock pistons, crank, rods, bearings, etc.
have the entire assembly checked for any potential problems, cleaned out, etc.
new oil and water pumps
new double roller timing chain and gear set

i want this freshen up to be as cheap as possible...i really don't want to spend more than 2 grand or so on this...plus all my stock stuff has only 100k miles on it and it should be fine...anybody got a clue as to the estimate on such a job? i emailed Bruce like 2 weeks ago and got no response...must be pretty busy

Call pro trac turbo specialties in joliet iL. 815-730-0158 or call ANS in melrose park. Why dont you come to the chicago
buick meeting this sunday at ANS and talk with Pete. This is also our chili cookoff. and i think they may have the dyno
open. Meeting starts at 10-11 am and go's till about 3-4. You dont have to be a member to come.

I would bet that the cylinders have a healthy taper to them and that the piston skirts are partially collapsed. You won't know what you need till its apart. Cleaned, magged , crank mic'd, rods checked and the cylinders checked with a dial bore gauge. Also if you plan on doing those heads I bet they will need guide work. I have out checked and built many of these engines. All the stuff over 75k had a nice taper to the bore and the pistons were collapsed. It all depends on what you want. If you want to spend 2000.00 on a set of heads and a cleaned up tired short block that is up to you. I would save up a little more and do it right one time.

sorry I haven't been able to reply right away...

should I just take it to the mentioned places and just say I want a stock rebuild??? would that be easier? how much should that cost??? at 100k miles you are probably right as far as things not being perfect and who knows how long it may last under extreme conditions...if it was just a beater N/A vehicle i would say do it as cheaply as possible...but with a TB motor, definitely not

i would love to make the ANS meeting but can't...i'm not sure what i need to do here...maybe i will start calling up people and find out some estimates on just a completely stock rebuild:confused: i still want the heads ported and polished along with the intake...and a performance cam...the rest i want left stock
