Just got home from watching it over a buddys house :D that 2nd to last fight was amazing first couple could have been better from what I remeber.... Okay time to go get my drunk ass to bed if I can make it up the steps

Dan, I like Randy and Chuck, but I was routin' for Randy. Both will be fighting in August.

Reaper, Those 2 fighters are impressive. We'll be seeing more of them. I think the new season starts in late August.

Hey Jim!....Wake Up....Hopefully he's not laid out at the bottom of the stairs! :D

There were some good fights, wasn't as good as 52 IMO. Evan tanner took a beating though! he looked horrible after the fight, I'm surprised he was still standing.

Never made it to bed :( had a fire call come in and I just got home little while ago.... :(

Ya Evan Tanner took some serious lumps. But what about the China man with the punch me in my face stance with Nick Dias..... I couldn't stop laughing when I saw that. And sure enough he got corked real good. The classic fight was with the PIMP walking all big and bad with his 75 12 2 record, getting corked by the kid that never finished the extreme fighter because of a injury. But to me Matt Serra got the worse beating of all. I couldn't count how many times he ate elbow after elbow and countless amounts of punches to the head.
I want to see Andrei Arlovski fight Chuck Lidell. I think Chuck would get his a s s beat. Andrei is a flippin beast. It was entertaining but definately not the best caliber fighters on this card.

I watched some of it. First time in years for me though.

Back when I was a regular UFC nut, Hoyce Gracie was the man.

Anyone remember him?

If he ever got his opponent down and wrapped up, it was over, or the guy blacked out first.

ttypewhite I agree with you on everything, but Chuck may do better than you think. He's got a hard country boy noggin'. I'd rather see Chuck win since he's American. That Andrei is a freak of nature. He's evenly proportioned and has some serious genetics.

Yeah I remember Hoyce. He was da' man. Little dude taking all comers out. They didn't have weight classes back in '93.

I think Royce would get it handed to him by some of the guys today. They are such well rounded fighters now, not anything like those first couple of UFC's. Totally different.

RobsIron-I am still not convinced that Chuck is the man. I think he got really lucky with Randy, Randy was playing his style of fight when he should have just taken him down and continue to put the screws to him. But he lost fair and square and thats all that matters. One thing Chuck has shown me from past fights is that he gets gased quick when he is being pressured. Look at what happened to him when he fought in Pride. He got thumped real good by Quintin Jackson, but yet says he wants Vandelia Silva after his win over Randy, when he should look for redemtion with Quintin. Well thats my story and I am sticking to it. :D I gotta love these forums when you can talk about any of your favorite hobbies, sports etc.

No Way Dan. There are many fighters in the UFC doing very well that are training under the Gracie system.
Most fighters are Martial Artists and their training from 1993 to present hasn't changed much since the Martial Arts have been around for 1000s of years.
Don't forget that in the beginning you fought all night till you won with no weight classes. That says alot for Royce. I think it was harder then than now.

I've seen all of 'em from day 1 and I still think that Don Frye is in the Top 5 that have competed in the UFC. Anybody remember him?

ttypewhite I don't think Chuck is the man and the Randy fight did end sooner than I expected. Chuck does have great stand up ability and it is getting better. Once you are in the Top of your class some of these guys will go where the money is first. Sucks.

BTW, its Hoyce, with an H.

What you said below is exactly what ALL of his opponents said right before Hoyce got his legs wrapped around their heads, and the next thing they knew, is they were slapping the mat in agony and begging for the fight to be stopped.

Ask ole Ken Shamrock how it feels to have your eyeballs pop out onto the mat right in front of you.

Keep in mind, most all of the guys today are on the juice. There were big strong guys back then too. Hoyce took size and strength out of the fight, and introduced conditioning. When the big guys wore down, and they ALWAYS did, it was over.
