I am running 215/65/15s out front on 15x7 drag lites with the usual 3.5" backspacing and recently noticed that I'm rubbing the fender liner when I make turns.

For example, the contact point on the driver's side is on the outside rear of fender liner (closest to the driver) when making a right turn.

Anyone else have this problem with this tire size & wheel combo? I thought this was a fairly common setup-- any suggestions on what gives?

thanks,
Scott

thats the stock tire size, id say theres probably a problem in your suspension somewhere. 215 65 15s should never rub

I'd look more at your control arm bushings. Passenger side top go back quick due to downpipe heat.

I had the same problem. New control arm bushings and springs will resolve the issue. My car I took a different route to resolve the issue. First, the control arm bushings were about shot. Replacing them resolved most of the problem. Second, I had springs on the car that lowered it about 1 1/2" which still let the tire rub at full lock. I went to 16" GNX style wheels and a 235/50 tire. No more rubbing.

I got the same crap with 205/65/15 (yes 205! Hey, they were brand new and free!!!)

Are the bushings tough to replace?

Time consuming. You have to completely disassemble the front suspension down to the frame. You can use that opportunity to clean up the A arms or even upgrade to the B body brakes though. :D
