How fast/comfortable are a vmax? Just curious if there are any articles on vmax's?

i dont own one, but i do know that they are supposed to be one of the fastest straight line accelerating bikes out there.

depends on what year your looking at. i ride a duc and soon a buell xb95. if your looking new, i would look elsewhere there are far better options.

I just want a weekend cruise bike

that i probably wont put 2000 miles a year on. just when I need a quick rush:D . I have owned a 900 eliminator, 600 hurricane, and a v 65 magna. now I am trying to decide on an 1100 shadow "cruiser" or a v max.

I havent purchased one yet, but everyone here on the board that has owned one says.... its the turbo regal of motorcycles!!

they are real good looking bikes and i sure would own one in a heartbeat!!!!

Hey Quick 6.....................

Gotta be some in KC, go ride one tomarrow and post your input!!:D :D

Cmon guys that have owned one,,,,tell us all about them:)

I used to have an 85, the fast one....well I had some work done also....I ran it several times..10.70's were the best.....most are much slower....it was an absolute blast to ride, but most people look at it like its a wanna be harley....I decided I liked body work so I have a turbo zx 11 now.

A joy to ride...torque. the stroker small block chevy of bikes.

i dont own one,but that bike is the musclecar of bikes.i love the looks of it!!:D

any owners.....................

on the board tonight?

do a search on V-MAX on the board-
ive asked a few questions about them in the past-

unfortunately i passed one up for sale here about 6 months ago, it was from topeka..
it had about 5k in mods done to it.. different front fork, brakes, wheels, new tires,.. it looked more updated if you know what i mean :)

it looked smooth and clean cause it didnt have the big mirrors, just some real small ones on the tips of the grips...
wished i would have bought it.. but its too much bike for me now..

My dad just bought a new one (2003) - and loves it. He has had V45's and V65's Magnas in the past, a said that they don't even compare.

I have got to ride it "yet" - but I'll let you guys know what I think.

I used to own a V65 that had a header/jet kit. I would race my friends VMax with the same mods and he could pull on me. It sounds like a small block chevy with open headers when you take the baffle out. Very cool and comfortable bike. The best cruiser out there.

When you coming to the JD factory?

Roger

i will e-mail this post to a good friend of mine (he doesnt have a turbobuick) but i will ask him to reply. he has had one for atleast a year or two and he LOVES it. But i dont know specifics.

After this rat race sure:D

I would love to pick corn at lunchtime and tweak some tractors to do burnouts. :D
Do they like Elvis out there.

ok, I have been lurking here for a few months now, but seeing this post made me register. My two favorite things, the v-max, and the turbo buick in one place :)

Well, I just got my V-max, its a 1989 with K&N and supertrapps. I got a steal at $3500 in very nice shape, new paint, etc.

I must say, this bike is truly like no other. Yeah, there are sport bikes out there that are faster now... but there is NOTHING with the sheer mystique, the awesome feel and rumble of the mighty v-max.

It is the best sounding bike I have ever heard.... it is truly the perfect blend of sport bike acceleration, with timeless original styling and decent comfort.
The thing has so much torque and power that rear tires come with every oil change it seems. It is truly eye-ball flattening acceleration. At 6,000rpm "v-boost" kicks in (carbs kind of cross-feeding each other) and the bike is totaly gone untill 10k. This is the only bike I have seen that either brakes the tire loose or wheelies from the massive torque on launch, and does it AGAIN when the awesome mid-high range power kicks in.

Still, even with its mighty brass balls, the v-max is a sound, stable, easy to ride driver. It is not overwhelming till you want it to be. Words cannot express the awesomeness of the v-max. :)
don't do the shadow... you know the max is calling ya.

btw... I don't have a turbo buick yet... but I am a g-body fan... I currently have a 1978 chevy malibu with a 350 and a five speed manual conversion.

nice lookin MAX Jugger...................

But isnt that a little chilly in the snow:eek: Thanks for the input.

Hey NJ,,,tell Danielle that Everybody loves Elvis dont they??????:p

I suppose JD wouldnot approve of a burnout in a new tractor,,,,,,,but you want to talk about factory TORQUE:eek:

A great place to live,,,,with not a lot of entertainment, but not a lot of drugs and crime either. My friend runs one of the largest Ford/LM Dodge stores in Kansas about 3 hours from me. They stock about 500 new/used vehicles and have maybe 15 techs. In a very very clean town the size of 20,000 people. If you want a contact let me know.

I have one

a 97 (black and silver,,, sound familiar). I love mine. I will say people still come up to me and talk about how fast they *think* it is. I've heard "9 sec q mile", "wheelies in 4th gear", "you're crazy to ride that" ect,,,,,,. Actually its a high 10 low 11 sec bike thats very easy to ride. It will launch and run up to 100 about as quick as any stock bike but after that look out. The v-boost is great. It feels like a turbo at 6K, even at part throttle. It isn't a great touring bike. The stock seat is bad and it only gets about 100 miles per tank(which is under the seat). Maintance is easy and cheap. You'll need a sync tool for the carbs, thats about it. Get it!!!
