Well i have a 85 GN hot air i just got done putting in them comp cams 980's i can fill a little bit difference, its redlining at 5000 i have a poston Chip 91 i guess its a red chip. Its kinda cutting out when i get about 4800 or so would that be my chip i have heard they are junk i was thinking about going with a Turbotweek chip. Can anyone tell me what could be going on? Thanks
Brian

hey what do you mean cutting out is it stalling or bogging or is it just not pulling as hard and what other mods do you have done to the car how much boost are you running allitle more info is needed to help you

Ya well here is a list of mods done to the car. Full set of gauges oil water boost tach, boost controler, turbo timer, Comp cams 980 valve springs, 3 in exaust dynomax race bullt. Its pretty much just kinda about 4800 it just bogging i could say, i have heard the stock redline is at 5600 why is mine turned to 5000 it fills like to me that it wants to keep pulling if my boost is turned down at 10 PSI it fills alright and if i put otc fuel in it runs pretty good.

Stock revlimiter is 5250rpm but if you have a different chip, that's probably changed. If it pulls good with boost turned down or higher octane then you're most likely running into detonation. Since it's in the upper rpm ranges, it could be a fuel problem but it could be a ton of other things also.

You need to check with a chip burner every time you modify your car. The chip has to match your setup all the time. Keep in mind that the ECM and chip controls the entire engine. The only way to mechanically tune the car is by fooling the ECM. Wrong chip-bad car. Turbotweak is good as well as Caspers Electronics. Brad

Well actually the chip needs to match the injectors. Then it becomes the shape your car is in. Good sensors, plenty of fuel, proper fuel pressure, no vacuum leaks, exhaust leaks etc. Boost and performance is effected by octane, detonation, weather conditions, timing. No chip burner can make a un-tuned / bad running car run better. The main reason you need a scan tool to monitor what the car is doing. There are factors a chip burner can help with: bigger turbo, stall, timing, etc.
