Anyone here really good at proof reading/writing papers?

My college composition teacher said my papers would be pretty godo if I didn't have so many coma errors. ( I lost 28 points on my last paper because of them D'oh!). So, if anyone could offer me a hand in proof reading my work for me I would greatly apperciate it.

I can't offer my services as an editor, but I can offer some advice.

Buy The Elements of Style by Strunk and read the page or two on commas. This is a wonderful, cheap, and short reference on writing.

Also, leave plenty of time to edit your own work. If you have trouble with commas then read your paper aloud and pause with each comma. This will help you spot some of the problems.

Finally, use every chance you get to improve your writing. Maybe you want your papers to be godo, but my guess is that you want them to be good. Use careful writing on here as practice for when it counts!

Let me also suggest that most colleges have writing centers that help students edit papers. I'd try your library or the english department-- more often than not the services are free and you get one on one time with folks who are usually pretty skilled editors.

Free Advice

Make twice as many sentences, and eliminate more than half the commas....Simple, but easy strategy while you master the comma.

Then, study dependant/independant clauses and prepositional phrases. When you understand dependant and independant clauses (its not hard at all) you'll do much better. Always mark prepositional phrases with a comma.

Some professional spell checkers check grammar too, that may help a bunch to let you know where and when you need to revise.
