Found an 89 daytona shelby. It's got the 2.5 turbo I motor and and auto tranny. Anyone know what quarter mile times are of this particular motor and tranny setup? What should I expect for gas mileage during "Normal" driving? All I can find Info on is the 2.2 turbo 5 speed cars.

i had an 89, and gas milage was good it ran good stock also, as far as speed tricks goes, i was'nt into that car for speed i had a 67 camaro for that

Those things tend to fall apart at ~80,000 miles, I would stay away from them. Our cars were considered good quality in the 80's, can you imagine how a bad quality car of the 80's has aged? :)

Thats probably a 16 second car at best!!! Like stated above quality is probably poor. Thats my opinion and I could be wrong but Dodge wasn't known for quality then and not now either.

I would stay away from the auto trans cars. They are dogs and get sh*t for gas mileage. My 87 Shadow w/ a 2.2L T1 and the A413 auto got 19MPG in the city or freeway. The stick shift cars get alright mileage. My Shelby Charger gets about 27MPG with a couple of mods and its pretty quick for a 20yo 4 cyl turbo car. My guess it would be in the mid to high 15's on a cool night. If you want more info check out TurboDodge.Com - Turbo Dodge discussion forums. Welcome to TurboMopar.com

Well I've been to Turbododge. They said if it runs and I can get it for less than 800 bucks get it. As far as the auto trans goes one guy said he's 18-19 in town and he's taken some mustangs (never specified "which") and his is lightly modded. I'm pretty much interested in the car for front drive for winter, style and something with a little more power than my 98 hp 90 grand am, which is an auto also. I had a 5 spd z24 once and couldn't stand shifting all day long, it sucked unless I was racing! I had a 86 plymouth caravelle once with a 2.5 and I beat the livin hell out of it-jumped it, tranny drops, manually shifting the auto trans while racing my friend on the highway:rolleyes: . It lived for years, although the subframe cracked and the computer took a crap, but i kept driving it anyways.

Still waiting on a definite price yet. I might go bug him again sometime at the end of the month. As far as the car goes its that awesome blue color and has grey interior. Bad part about it is that all the paint has peeled off the roof in inbetween the sunroof (oh yeah!) and the windsheild. Light surface rust there but don't think it's a biggie The rest of the paint and body looks pretty good though. Any more input? If I don't end up wiht this one I'm gonna keep looking for one. Stuff like this is hard to find around here.

I just got rid of my 89 ES turbo with a 5-speed. Not the Shelby model but it was the turbo 2.5

Car ran hard and strong and for an 18 year old car with 190k miles on it the only problems I ever had was a broken timing belt once and two radiators. Still had the stock alternator!!!

Car was able to keep pace with the 89 5.0 Mustangs just fine. I couldn't beat them but they couldn't get away from me. Bumper to bumper all the way.

When it was younger it got about 32 on the freeway. When I let it go in January it was getting about 20.

All cylinders still had equal pressure across them :)

I would get another in a heartbeat but they are all rusted to hell up here.

My ex-girlfriend had a white '92 IROC Daytona and it had a 3 liter V-6 in it. It was a "Shelby" as opposed to the IROC "R/T" which had a turbocharged 4 cyl. engine...

I had a '93 Shadow ES with the 3.0 and 5 speed. It was actually a really fun car to drive and had plenty of power for a nice daily driver
