I want to get some kind of handheld voice recorder. I was looking at the digital ones, but I was wondering if there is someway to download the voice files onto your computer.

Thanks for anyone who can help!

I was researching some voice recorders for a gift. I looked at multiple sites. I found a good one that listed them by features and compared them. I can't seem to find the site right now.

It appeared that when it came to the best recorder for the price, the Olympus DS-330 seemed the best. It can be gotten for about $115 and records at the best quality for 2 hours 15 minutes, and the worst quality for 4 hours and 45 minutes.

Epinions.com has some other reviews. It really seems to depend on how much you want to spend. Olympus has some others that have expandable memory slots but the price goes up drastically when you add these other features. I searched on Ebay and found various recorders for a better price but, they were some brand I did not recognize and a search on the net didn't lead me to any sites that were in english.

Do you think it would be possible to take one of the cheaper models that have a headphone jack and plug that into the mic jack on your computer? In theory I would think it would work; you should be able to just record it in the the Windows sound recorder then?

I guess technically that may work. That was one of the good features about the Olympus was that you plug the USB in and click a button and it puts the files on your computer.
