I am trying to figure out if the chip is not limiting boost like it should OR if it is in my harness. If you use one let me know what your boost is limited to.It seems as if mine has no limit.

Did hypertech make a street or race chip for the hot air cars?

Hypertech

Hey, i bought my 84 off some one who was having alot of trouble with the car, i found out it had a hyper tech chip, so i replaced it with the original and now the car runs great minus the exhaust leak and spark plugs witch i plan to repair some time this week!
i cant find the chip on the web site.. but the box is labeled not for street use so im guessing its a race chip, I e-mailed hypertech and they said that ship should be set to stock engine settings.. i.e. fuel pressure and such... But it still give me trouble... After i do the repairs im gunna try it again!

problem found!

Well,I swapped my ecm today with a known working one with a stock chip and it would only go to 15 or so psi but felt sluggish.I put the hypertech back in and it does not have any boost control coming in at all, whatsoever.I stab the throttle to the floor for a half second and it PEGGED the 25 psi vdo gauge!!I am certain it is the hypertech chip. Here's the funny part, except for the boost problem the hypertech has exellent response and driveability over the stock chip.So I hooked up the wastegate tuner style and nipped a little of the rod off and got it to peak at 15-16 psi with real good spool.I am going to leave it there now until I get the pump and injectors which are horribly overdue.The..I will take it take the track to see what it is doing,It is pulling pretty good and fries the tires from a 15mph roll.It seems fine without the chip contolling the boost seems more steady to me,I may stick with this setup if the numbers are good.

chip

Im gunna try mine again as soon as i get thoose spark plugs changed (long over due) and then hope fully we will be rockn' and rollin again!!

Just watch the boost, like I said mine does not seem to have any boost control whatsoever and it would be pretty easy to blow your motor up with 25+ psi and pump gas!!
