Mag1 is a good quality oil and they usually only make oil for other labels which is why they are cheaper because they don't have an expensive ad campaign to pay for. Mag1 makes SuperTech oil that is sold by Walmart and some of the autoparts store brands. Mag1 tests as good as any of the normal brands they just do not have the name recognition.

Does the SuperTech oil have the same qualities as the Mag1 stuff? I want to use it for the ZDDP content rather than buy a bottle of ZDDP for every oil change.

I don't think any regular passenger car oil is going to have the needed amount of zddp. It will have to be a speciality type of oil to have the level of zddp you are looking for.

I know Brad Penn is what people use. I am just trying to find an alternative that I can find around me. Have any experience with Valvoline VR1 racing oils? I read on Team Chevelle that they use it in their BB Pushrod/Flat tappet engines.

I like the Brad Penn,Valvoline VR1 or Joe Gibbs stuff. Many good oils out their, availability is the biggest concern

I used the Valvoline Racing oil a few times but I normally just used the Lucas Oil break in additive with regular dino oil. I don't think its any better than ZDDPlus or the other additives but it is available at the local Orielly's or Autozone so it was easy to get when ever I needed it

As far as synthetic goes quaker state leads the way for anti wear. They are a sub of shell

I don't think Quaker State will have the amount of zddp we need right?

Alright then. Ill just do the normal ZDDP/Dino mix. Thanks everyone.
