damn i didnt know you could do all that with the scanmaster, well that pretty much sells me on getting the power logger then

it would be nice to free up a space on the pillar pod

When you add the new chip to the Scanmaster you can activate the wideband readings to show on the Scanmaster with the Powerlogger software. You don't really need a special gauge to view the O2s. There are also 2 auxillary inputs so you can log that uses a 5 volt line.

Ya, it's a great setup. My powerlogger sends my WBO2 readings to the scanmaster, as well as Boost, and MAP.
I could also display my EGT if I had it hooked to my powerlogger, but I just watch the EGT gauge.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the input. Actually I don't use my scanmaster anymore. I got a PLX Device R500 data loger and a egt pyrometer that wires into the PLX. PLX does have occational upgrades that the put on their website that loads into a flash thingie into my laptop and then into the box, at least, I think that's how it works. I'm an analog guy living in a digital world. I have a buddy that helps me with that stuff. I know I can record a run and I can see afr and egt at real time also. Honestly I have never heard of a power logger and I think it was Razor that told me about the PLX maybe 5 or 6 years ago or longer.

Powerlogger is TB specific. You install a daughter board to the ECM. It has 2 inputs. One for the USB to the laptop, the other to a remote terminal device that has the inputs for O2, MAP (for boost logging), EGT and 2 aux. Pretty easy to install on ECM and wire. Adding the chip to the Scanmaster is easy too. If you don't use the Scanmaster how do you keep an eye on knock? Do you use a knock gauge or audio warning sensor?

I use a caspers knock gauge, which I don't like anymore. I think it shows false knock. I think the scanmaster is better for watching knock. I'd rather replace the casper's knock gauge with an egt gauge in the pillar. Again, thanks for the info fellas, I'm getting close to getting something figured out with all the info.

Hi Pronto,

I used to use the scanmaster just for knock and o2 numbers but when I installed the PLX and wide band the o2 numbers on the scanmaster got really crazy. I exchanged emails with Erick (TT) and he explained that the o2's on scanmaster were no longer valid because of the wide band. So, I now depend on the casper's knock gauge. The PLX does show knock but the position I had to mount it is not a good spot for seeing the numbers safely. I did continue using the sm for knock but it just quit working all together. I do know that the casper's gauge is very sensitive but when I run the car I use 114 race gas and I only run 20 psi boost.

I use the AFX too and I mounted the gage under the radio pod just to the right of the console tray with a Velcro strip that is mounted to a flat plate that I bolted under there using existing holes.. Its out of the way of everything and you can see it well. My wide band turns on with the key and I have run it for many months without calibration but if needed is easy to do.

So you had to splice into all the wires to the ecm to get the PLX to do the datalogging? Seems like alot of work. Are you using the wb to emulate the stock O2? Maybe that's the issue. Guess that system doesn't play well with the SM.

Same spot as mine, great minds think alike.:) I used velcro and made a snap on elastic band to stablize it. Nice large numbers that are easy to read too.

I'd much rather have something with a guage that fits in the pillar guage pod, you have to be rather creative to get that in the car and not looking like a hack job and someplace you can see it

Why not just mount it on top of the dash bezel surround? Or put it next to the Scanmaster?
