Are aluminum brake drums repairable?

Got a hairline crack in one. Look like someone smacked it with a hammer from behind. Also, the inserts are pretty worn. Can the inserts be replaced? Should I shelve 'em and buy iron drums?

I am no expert with aluminum brakes but I have always been told that they will crack. Are you going to be racing the vehicle at the track? If so you may want to consider the cast drums. They will give you years of reliable service.
