hey guys.. grr if its not one thing its another and here i go AGAIN

my ignition hiccups alot..

the biggest explanation i can give is say you are slowly accelerating and you have a switch in line with the coil pak.. you randomly flip the coil pak switch off for a split second.

thats whats going on, i dont know why, other than "the coil pak is bad again.."

no one else could really come up with a conclusion. it does this at idle and while driving, sometimes when stopped in drive, it can cause the car to die.. not very fun with hydroboost brakes (no rpms = manual brakes)

anyway.. im tired of buying used coilpaks from my friends for cheap,.. i figure i might as well get an accel one or a known good 87 coil and get the adapter (i have umpteen modules left over.. they seem invincible)

any experiences with this thing? its not bright yellow is it? maybe it will have a warranty.. lemme know guys..

I use an Accel coil pack. It's not YELLOW, it's plain ole black. It works fine, didn't really notice anything special performance wise. It works though. Not to bad of price either. I got mine through Jegs/Summit.

if your going through coil packs like that then you probabaly
have a problem elsewhere. have coil pack tested before
putting a new one on. could be ignition module below the
coil pack is really the problem. could even be a loose connection.

this is actually the first one thats ever gone BAD BAD/

car does not like to run anywhere between idle and 2500rpm.. if i get it above that it does OK, it doesn backfire, pop thru the intake, and stall.

the others have the small hiccup

currentlyi have 4 84/85 modules, 3 84/85 coil packs, and 1 86/ 87 coil/module

id just use the 87 but i have to have an adapter plate to mount it with... supposedly the accel coil is the shape of an 86/87 pak, and has some kind of adapter to use with 84/85 cars if you have one..
