If you'll look at this picture, I'm sure you've seen many full size, front drive GMs, such as Cadillac or Park Avenues, with this center armrest, glove box situation. I have a Grand National. I got one of these leather armrests from a donor car at a junkyard, painted it with gray sem, and use velcro to attach it to the glove box top on my GN console. Works like a charm. Looks so stock people don't notice it and is a perfect height for armrest and can use a factory cupholder for it. I can still get in the GN glovey if I have too. Cost? About $10 or less. Sorry I haven't had a digital camera to take shots of it yet.
