The Buick, Oldsmobile, Pontiac event at Cordova dragway was truly a fun time. At over 74 years old Arnie Beswick is still laying down low 7 second passes in his “Tameless Tiger”, way to go Arnie.

My father in law and Arnie were friends. A few years ago a nitrous fire almost took his life. He fought back hard and is still a witty wheel man. It sure was fun hanging out with him this weekend. I hope I am still in that kind of shape when I get up there in age.

Toni and I are planning on going to this event again next year.

I met Arnie in 2006 at the show in Elkton, MN. He graciously autographed some stuff for me, and we talked for quite some time about early '60's Pontiacs. Very very nice guy!

Also very nice folks that I have met at the Elkton show over the years are Ronny Sox (RIP), Buddy Martin (both from the Sox & Martin team), and Linda Vaughn (Hurst)

Quite to opposite of Dick Landy (may he rest in peace)....

John

arnie,,

I met the old man back in 1964 at muncie dragway. he was at muncie last month. he told me he was 78 years old. btw im 68, any way his goat got beat by a local guy in a 67 corvette they only run 1/8 mile. good show anyway.

Awesome pictures, Sam! I'll bet Toni's dad was watching from above and getting a big kick out of it.

I'm glad you guys came out- I love Cordova and the surrounding area. The track is good, and the people are great, too. It's a nice get-away for us all!

Glad you made it home safely, too. Did you stop on the way and get some sleep?

Who cares about Arnie. How about the famous Toni from Pass Time fame! :D :D :D

LOL Lets not inflate her ego anymore alright.

Does he come down to Muncie very often?

I am sure he was. We spoke of some memories and shed some tears at the track before we met up with you guys that night.

That is a nice little town we went out to after the track. I enjoyed talking to Loyd about his next project.
