Arrows on pistons

What direction are the arrows on the stock pistons pointing when in the block?

Toward the front of the motor.

if there is any writing on the pistons, one side will read upside down.
all arrows point to the front.

They point to the front of the car, not the engine But seriously, alot of guys new to the VW world will rebuild their first engines, and install the pistons with the arrows pointing to the front of the engine. And when they do that, they end up with big problems. Same for all boxter engines (porsche, subaru, VW). But yeah, if you're putting pistons in an 86 buick century, you cant exactly put the pistons in pointing toward the front of the car (front wheel drive).
So yeah, front of the motor. :tongue:
