Hi Guys,
In my yard sale hunting I got this sword. Here is what I can tell ya.
It is Asian,Vietnamese.. the wood feels lightweight, maybe bamboo or teak?
The sword metal is not polished.
has no markings other than squiggly continue S's on the blade. Some brass goes around the wood as trim.

The seller said his prior tenant brought them back from Vietnam & that he was there from 66 to 68 during the war. tenant skipped rent & left all belongings.

Any help! Or who I should ask.. I see some items like this on Ebay sell for big money

Looks pretty cool.how much did you pay for it? My dad still has rifle from korea with boyonet on end of it. it is a single shot rifle. that sword looks cool there is no date anywhere on it? looks like the antique road show for you:biggrin: there has got to be some sword sites. good luck

If it were American Civil War I could help ya.....;) Looks modern though. Could be from the Vietnam War period. I would Google "Vietnam war swords" and see what comes up.

Man I googled hard on this thread

The blade is mass produced, that one can see just by looking at it unlike the japanese ones where they heat and beat, fold and repeat like a zillion times then cold forge and can split a hair 500 years later..lol ...does it have blood groove on the blade? (blood groove is indent running at least down one side to prevent sword from sticking in body)

The S curve guard is chinese that I found but the markings on the blade look like Thai or Burmese and the handle looks teak and maybe carved by the owner? the scabbard is real cool looking bamboo I did find a vietnamese officer sword on line and it looks nothing like that.

The thing could very well be over 100 years old its hard to say.. they did use brass way back when ...heck it coulda been in someones family for generations and when the owner went to war in 65 he took grandpas sword with him.

I did find a few sword collectors online but they want to charge 5 bucks just to look at the pic:confused:

Cool sword but i didnt see another one like it and i did 30 mins worth of searching

id for sure get it indentified then sell it and sink the money into your TR..LOL
