I need a new fuel pump and was wondering if I should just get a double pumper.I have 55 injecters and the fastest my car went was 118 and would like to push it a little more but maybe a single pump would do.Need some opinions!!!!Thanks

Depending on what turbo, and or what combo you will be upgrading too in the future, you are getting close to the limits of what a single Walbro 340 pump can support. 55#ers can support up to 660 flywheel hp when maxed out. The Walbro 340 when hot wired and with proper voltage is about done at that fwhp as well.
Typically around 123-125 and it's time to either go double pumper, or single external and no in tank.
Just my O2's worth.

Patrick where do you buy one from? how much? easy install?

If you are talking about a Walbro 340 pump, almost all of the Supporting vendors sell them. Walbro changed the part number for the 340M a few years ago. The new part number is F2000169. And don't forget the installation kit # 400-1016 as it is sold separately by some vendors.
Typical price is anywhere from $119 - $150 give or take inflation and the price of todays gas. :D If you are talking about a double pumper, there are a few vendors who still sell them as well.

I have gone 125mph with a single. I will be upgrading to a double just to be safe. If you have the $, just go with the double.

Well I guess its more about how far I want to push the car and if Im ever going to bigger turbo. If I want to just leave the car how it is then a signle xp will do the job but I did put 55s in plannig on going faster. What should I do??????

According to Patrick the 55s match up perfectly with the single 340.

You need more fuel pump when the supply can't keep up with the demand. The way to tell this is to put a pressure gauge on it and go racing. If fuel pressure is dropping though the lights, you need more pump. If pressure tracks with boost, you're ok.

Bad advice.

If you go 125, be safe and get a double pumper.

I went to reds today and got xp plus fuel pump,I dont think Im going to make my car much faster than what Im going, maybe I can cut few tenths off with better tuning and 60ft.I still have stock parts in the bottom of my motor and I would like to keep them there. Thanks for all the advice.

I went 125 on a single Walbro pump...but then I split my block because I was too lean. The pump wasn't the only problem I had but it was one reason why. Better to be safe than sorry. Do the double pumper or external on anything past 600 horsepower.

Agreed. No need to melt a cylinder to find out your pump wasnt adequate. If your going that fast and losing pressure its only going to take a few seconds or less to melt something.

done 122 on a single with a 307 shimmed, old school. So a single pump will get you into some good numbers. But if you are looking for consistent 10s @125+, I would 'suggest' a double.

Another peice of advice, do a signature check on the guys running similiar combos at faster times and see what they are running. The truth will be revealed !

just curious how much farther i could take the single 340 with an alky system? i heard of a car running a 10.1 with a single 340

So if you can go 125 with a single and your pressure is fine then you need to upgrade anyway ??

So what happens when one of the dual pumps fails and it suddenly goes lean ??
