I'm gonna pick up a cold air kit for the 86 T-Type, and I'm lookin at the ATR one. Charcoal canister relocater...14" K&N...nice tubing...straight shot to the turbo...20hp dyno improvement on stock car...but is there something better for the same price ($149) Just weighing my options.....let me know what you got, how you like it, and what you paid!

I have the ATR and love it! It fits well the relocator fit perfect and it really brings in the cool air.
:D

Tom ill sell u my ATR for 80 bucks, comes complete with everything. Air filter is new.

I decided not to use it as its been sitting for a year now :)

Go straight for the big mouth and do not pass go.....

You won't be dissapointed!

big mouth is AWESOME...makes your car sound like a jet and it's a very effective and powerful mod to add to your TR

What does ATR's latest design look like? Does it enclose the 14" K & N in a canister and then feed it with a hose?

I thought I read somewhere that their 14" K & N is more restrictive than a 9" K & N. Bigger isn't always better.

For that matter...has anybody been able to prove that any of the Ram Air systems are quicker at the track than just attaching a K & N directly to the MAF?

I've ran them all, old style ATR, KB enclosed canister, Pete Tomka, and Big Mouth. Big Moth is the best of the bunch IMO, and certainly in terms of looks. I think you need an unrestricted K & N filter, and I think you need it located outside of the engine bay for the street.

I imagine so, anything compared to the stock air box will increase HP. I'm betting that just attaching a 9" K & N directly to the MAF would of gained the same results, maybe more.

so, you guys seem to like the big mouth stuff, but is it really worth $185??? I don't really want to run just a cone filter on the MAF because there is alot of dust around here, and I'd sleep better knowing my K&N is enclosed!

HAd my big mouth setup installed two days ago from just a regular k&n installed. Sound did not really change much on the "free" road, but a bit louder in places that echo like an alley or a narrow street with driveways and houses on both sides. If you have the stock air setup and convert to any free air setup you will have a big grin. It does actually sound like a jet about to take of when you are on throttle.

With a seat off the pants tests, i felt a big difference and so did my friends because of the cold air pickup. I figure also the maf is getting a smoother stream of air also since the airfilter is not connected directly to it. i expect more power when i block my throttle body coolant lines.

I think you can get Mark's for less, but without the chrome. I would definetily go with chrome just for the wow factor. When i got my set i was like whoa when i saw the 4" chrome elbow. That sucka was huge!

If you're looking to save money, make your own. I did for about $15.00, not including the $40.00 K&N. My ATS reports temps less than 10 degrees over ambient unless I idle for a long time.
