Anybody have this combo on their car? I've been grinding some meat off the sides of the ATR bar and its still too tight to get between the H&R lower control arms. Stock swaybar fits OK. Anybody else run into this?

No fit problem with the Metco Billits on mine and the ATR....Just bolt up and go.... Do what Dan says....Keep a grinding...

U are lucky then. I still have to grind my bar some more.

Anyone knows if there will be any grinding involved by putting on a ATR sway bar with SSM lower control arms??:)

Just keep grinding, or take it to a machine shop and have them mill some off. DON'T press it in place! If you do that, it puts too much side load on the control arms & binds them up & also tears the sides of the poly bushings up.

Our control arms are made from wider tubing than stock, but they are fixtured up to be off to the one side slightly. This way, the measurement between the arms (where the swaybar goes) is exactly the same. You said it best when you stated that the stock swaybar fit fine. Many people report that the ATR bar is wider than the stock bar & needs grinding to fit, sometimes over 1/4".

If you get it real close, you can loosen the mounting bolts on the control arms and then fit the swaybar in place. Once you have the swaybar bolts in place, tighten the arms back up & tighten the swaybar up. Make sure you are very close before trying this, otherwiae it's just like hammering it in place.

metco's and atr bar= smooth intall and no grinding. putting the atr bar on my other car with south sides this week, hope i dont need to grind.

Hey, Paul, how about the bolt length? You supply longer bolts with your lca's, but the ATR bar needs even longer bolts, doesn't it? They supply longer bolts with the bar but I think those are too short to go with your lca's. What size and grade do you supply, and how much longer will they need to be to go with the atr bar? Thanks. (I put my lca's on with the stock bar and your bolts, and a friend put the atr bar on with your lca's and I remember him saying something about needing bolts but of course I've forgotten the details :-).)

Yes, neither set of bolts supplied were long enough, about 1/2 - 3/4" short. i believe you need grade 8 bolts?

I just robbed Peter to pay Paul[pulled my HR lowers and ATR bar off the 85 becouse it will not be done anytime soon] The bar didnt fit good on the 85,had to hammer it in place.I put it on the 87 and everything fit perfect.

Paul do I need longer bolts for the swaybar[ATR],they came out about a 1/2 inch for a bolt and washer?

Keith

how easily should the bar slide up? i didnt grind anything i put the front bolts in then pushed the back ones up into place with a floor jack. oops!
