My car has the ATR wastegate and downpipe and is also equipped with an aftermarket bleeder valve of some sort. I want to remove the bleeder valve at least temporarily while trying to correct a bad turbo lag problem. I have two questions:

1: the hose that goes in to the top of the wastegate goes into a small fitting with a hose nipple on it. The other wastegates i've seen have a fitting with kind of a mesh insert in it. Is this a simple vent that I can leave open when I diconnect the hose? or do I have to get that little mesh fitting from somewhere?

2: How much can you or should you adjust the wastegate before having to install a different spring? I was told when I bought it that it has an 18 lb. spring in it now.

thanks.

heres the deal your wastegate with the bleeder value closed all the way and the treaded rod coming out of the wastegate should have 8 treads exposed this will produce around 14 pounds of turbo boost ther is no need to touch the waste gate unless your running in the 9's. or over 22 pounds of boost to bring the boost up simply turn the bleeder value 3 full turns the first time your boost should go up 2pounds . to keep raising your boost only 1full turn at a time is needed to raise boost it also depends on the turbo your using . i run this same set up with no problems with a te-60 turbo i run 16 pounds on pump gas 22 psi on race gas . hope this info helps i also dont have a cat you will get lower boost with a cat

If you havent had the bronze guide replaced with stainless yet, my bet is the valve is sticking. Take the gate off and see that the valve is not frozen. If it is, send it out to John Craig to be modified

Ask me how I know about it.... :p

Thanks for the info guys. I'll check it out. I had never thought of it being IN the wastegate it shouldnt be that old. I also never knew the correct bleeder valve adjustments.
