Hey Greg,
Is this Master Racing OverHaul Kit TCI #389000 - the same stuff that is used in one of your 200-4R Street Fighter trannies? Or are the clutches more for racing?

No Greg I guess. Well the kit arrived. It consists of:

4th clutch: 3 steels, 3 Borg Warner clutches
Overrun clutch: 2 steels, 2 Borg Warner clutches
Direct clutch: 6 steels, 6 Raybestos Blue Plate clutches
Forward clutch: 4 steels, 4 Borg Warner clutches
Lo/Rev clutch: 6 steels, 6 Borg Warner clutches

Kevlar band
Filter
Soft parts (Gaskets, Seals, O-Rings)
Pump bushing
Output shaft bushing

This kit must be of an earlier vintage since I believe the 2004R's built by TCI now use the Alto Red Band and Red Eagle clutches. Anyone know of any easy way to tell if the steels are Kolene?

They are black in apearance.

Sorry, I've been scarce around here lately. Busy, busy.

You're correct on both accounts. Our kits have the same content that goes into our transmissions. That particular kit was made up a while back evidently. While it should perform well, if you want the Red Eagle clutches and band instead of what you have, we could swap those items out. Your call.

Well I got the kit new from a guy off eBay, so I'm not sure about the warrantee issue. It probably sat awhile and that is the reason for the older kit contents. It was new in the box when I opened it though. If it can be done, I would prefer the Alto Red Eagles for the Direct Clutch and the Alto Power Band to the Raybestos Blue Plates and the Kevlar band. Let me know if and how to proceed. Thanks.

Just call any of our tech guys at 662-224-8972 and tell them you talked to me about it. You don't even need to tell them the kit came from an eBay auction as it really doesn't matter.

They'll probably ask you to send in the parts you'd like swapped out along with a note specifying what you'd like in return and your shipping address.

Just be sure to drop my name. The tech guy will say, "Well, that explains that." Also, if there's any questions, they can just ask me.

TCI will be closed Thursday & Friday.
