Assuming most replace their factory decks, I'm hoping someone has a good one sitting on a shelf they'd be willing to help me out. My truck is an 04 with the tape/cd player. Should be a fairly common head unit. I'd consider an aftermarket replacement as long as it doesn't require a mount kit. Posting here since I'd rather deal with the TB community first. Thanks.

fyi, if you replace with an used oem stereo, you may have to program the new radio to accept the new vin number

I thought about taking it out and having it fixed, but I'm sure its' gonna cost more than I think it's worth.

you can take apart, look at the cd mechanism (so you can match up the corect replacement mechanism), and buy one on ebay, and fix it yourself....not too bad...

go here car-parts.com I own a car dealership and I buy radios all the time. This will link you to every junk yard in your area. I have got some decent deals off ebay but sometimes you can get a decent deal off the site I posted.

And yes you will have to get it unlocked at a GM dealer or a local mechanic if he has a TECH II

You will also need your stereo option code which will be in the glove box. It will start with a "U" example UC6/UB1 it will have to be the same radio.

Will be a lot cheaper and you'll be able to play MP3 etc. If you want a factory look get a double din. Does your truck have steering wheel radio controls?

They make double din stereo's that will interface with your steering wheel controls.

Probably not the least expensive way to go but if you spend $150 to $200 for a factory replacement and then $90 to unlock it you're a long way toward something much better aftermarket.

Plus a replacement factory radio is a crap shoot anyway. It could break in a year and then you're back to square one.
