Audible knock detector get stuck on at start up?

It always beeps on start up but it also occasionaly gets stuck on and I have to shut the engine off and restart it to get it to quit. Friends does the same thing. Anyone found a solution other than a kill switch? I tried wiring a kill switch today and although it works the detector is much quiter now through the switch which is not desirable. I saw on another forum someone said to run the power off the eliminate the beep at startup but I like the beep at start up to know it's still working.

I have mine wired through relay...kills power to knock sensor while engine is cranking.

I sold mine and now the problem is eliminated!!

Car runs much better and faster now that I don't lift with every false alarm from that POS.

Mine stuck on after about 6 months and would not turn off. Took it off and haven't replaced it. Probably damaged if they have voltage while cranking, like the caspers knock gauges. I rewired power for my gauges to a different spot on the fuse block - ign 3 I think doesn't supply voltage while cranking.

wow what is this...I've had mine for a few years ..it works good and ...probably heard it 5 times on start up since I've have it....is there a problem with these?

Mine also goes off while cranking quite often, also will stay on till I shut her down more often than I like...Mike

I wired a cutoff swith in ashtray panel yesterday. I like it beeping at startup as it Lets me know it's still working but like I said it gets stuck. Now instead of having to shut engine off I just flip switch in console. It's labeled nitrous in the panel, lol.

The instructions that came with mine said to put a momentary switch, which would be normally closed to allow power to go through it, and momentary break with spring return, in the ground power line to it.

It won't affect the volume level and is an instant reset if it sticks on.

No kidding? I completely missed that? I usually read the instructions completely. Well anyway, it's got a switch now.
