wierd...if the car is running and I plug up the autoxray to it the car will idle up some and you'll hear it miss every now and then. as some as you turn the unit off the car will idle down some and once you unplug it the car is back to normal...wierd.
We've had problems with battery acid corrosion in the back of the unit...sit on the shelf with batteries in it for a few years LOL. We cleaned it up and it works like a champ...except for this. It pulls codes and what-not...you just don't want to datalog with it...that's for sure.

Sounds like it is going into Diagnostic mode. This bumps up the idle rpm to 1000 and sets the spark advance at a specific value. It shouldn't be driven this way or it will cause damage.

when you unplug it the car idles fine. Do I need to kill power to the ecu to make sure it's back in normal running mode?

I have the same issue with autoxray (XP240 I believe). Others on the board have not had this issue, so I thought it was just my car/scanner. I agree with Dave, seems like it is going into diagnostic mode. I still have not figured it out, let me know if you do.

I am now using the Turbometer software (free, check out the site), it works well. Just a pain to pull out the lap top all the time, I wish I could get the autoxray to work correctly for the majority of the time I drive the car and use Turbometer for occational tuning and data logging.

tell ya what I figured out...I won't buy Autoxray...LOL. THis isn't my unit anyway...borrowed from a friend.

Sorry, should have included the website:

turbometerpro.com (not sure how to add the actual link)

The only bug I have noticed is the temperature reading is way off, over 100 degrees. Probably just conversation factor error in the program. Other than that it has some nice features.

You will have to make a cable to interface with your computer, the instuctions are also on the site. Just a trip to Radio Shack and some soldering, less than $15 in parts.

Thanks,
Greg
