I got my Autogage tachometer all wired up and it isn't working at all. When the car is off it reads 600-700rpm and when I start the car it goes to 0. I wired it off the green plug near the alternator and the tach output from the coil. Both do the same thing. Any ideas? Thanks.

Model 2300. I flipped the switch inside to a 6 cylinder. it doesn't read at all just goes to 0 rpm

Just try all the switch settings until you get the right one. That's what I did on my VDO tach.

Some after market ignition modules do not have the tach out signal that goes to the wire by the altenator. If it is a GM Delco you may need the Caspers tach signal converter.

tried it on every switch and it still does the same thing. I have the TR-6 ignition in my car and the old tach worked after I installed the ignition. I'll try the autometer tach adapter
