I've got the B+M trans cooler part #70266. The one that doesn't come with an installation kit. Would anybody be willing to share any info on what fittings, hoses, etc. they used on their install? Anyone use stainless braided hose or will rubber hose suffice? I've got a freshly-built Janis 200R4 in this car and it shifts to darn sweet to ruin it with a bad trans cooler install.

do it right

Go to NAPA and get 2-- 1/2 X 1/4 in. brass bushings. 2 --1/4 to 5/16 tubing adapter. 2--5/16 tubing couplers. Some sticks of 5/16 tubing (different lengths) and run solid lines. You will need tubing bender.

Funny you should mention it. I'm doing the same install right now. I suppose you could find barb fittings and use slip on hoses and hose clamps. It would work, but I find it a little cheezy. I think the cooler has female 1/2in NPT connection. I was probably gonna get 1/2in NPT to 10AN adapter for each end of the cooler. Then connect these to 90degree 10AN hose ends and use stainless braided hose. On the other end, I was gonna again use 10AN hose ends. On the line that goes to the driver side port on the cooler adapter, I was gonna use a fitting with a 90 degree bend and on the other port, use about a 45 degree bend hose end. You will then again need a 1/2in NPT to 10AN adapter to replace those that are already in the cooler adapter. There is a thread from several months ago that tells you what size adpaters you need, but I THINK the above are correct. Most use 8AN or 10AN hose. I'll probably mount it in front of the AC condenser at the bottom, so with the 90 degree connecters, the lines will come out the bottom pointing straight back.

Folks say you can have lines made up at locally, but near me, they want 50 bucks per line for plain rubber hose. I figure I can make up lines for a similar price in braided stainless.

This should get you to some pictures of some of these adapters. The guy who posted this was gonna use -8AN hose. If you measure the OD of the stock lines, I think they are fatter than the OD of 8AN, but smaller than 10AN, therefore I'd go with 10AN. Of course it's ID that matters, but I don't know the ID of the stock lines.

Like lee says, cant go wrong with the metal 5/16 line like the factory.
If you have your heart set on braided then go with a #6 russel, earls, aeroquip braided line. you will need a pair of nipples #6 to 1/2" npt for the cooler.if you can find them, otherwise they make a step down 1/2" to 3/8 or 1/4 and then buy the proper #6 nipple to screw in for the bushing you get.
the trans side i believe you will need 2 fittings #6 nipple to 1/4" npt and be careful tightening into trans that you dont crack the case, you dont have to kill the fittings going in the trans.

Whoops. I thought we were talking about oil cooler. I guess it pays to read.

I'm running cheap rubber hose and clamps right now but after springing a leak last week I'm looking to upgrade. Fortunately I got lucky and caught it in time. Thanks for the replies.
