We were pretty sure we had the cam sensor in correctly, had same problem, reinstalled it 180* and fired right up...just a suggestion..worth double checking it..

the coil was off, i did lifters, springs i doudle check firing order, coil pack connections, i check the cam sensor position put to t d c - then 24 deg, took the sensor cap off the window is facing down to driver side fender is this correct  the engine is already preprime 70 psi with the drill;) weel sould i just turn the sensor 180 around?

If you can follow the procedure that Gene offered just turn it 180* around and see how it is.

The reason I asked about the coil pack is:
When I changed my timing chain and put it all back together I was getting the same thing with the backfires. I looked all over everything for like two weeks-going over everything all to no avail. Until I noticed on another car that the 2,4,and 6 wires were on the front of the coil pack. A very reputable tuner (not gonna mention their name) had put my coil pack on top of the module backwards when testing the module. I put the wires back on according to the little numbers on the pack-so it was all backwards. It's something simple to check--it sure would be nice if it was this, huh.

got it running guys!!!! CAM SENSOR 180 OFF:rolleyes: thanks for all the help. but i have another problem  i have an oil leak between timing cover/oilpan!! i think the gasket roll in installing the front cover that SUCKS MAN. other than that no leaks:D so far, so my next project is rear main seal, leaking anyway how hard to do the job, again thanks for all the help!!!! pete.;)
