bad alt

I dont have the money right now for a alt so can i rebuild the stock one , is it a part that go's bad like the regulator. Does any one know if auto zone or any one else sells it and about what it would cost. A new alt is 69.00 so i guess it cant be much.

take the alt up there theyll tell you whats wrong.

if its diodes, go buy some diodes

if its the rectifier, go buy a new rectifier

if its the brushes / regulator, get one of the HELP! alt rebuild kits.

and lastly, if they say they dont sell the parts seperate, tell them to **** off. thats just bs they say to sell alternators. go to a local alternator shop and tell them what you need. bring the alt.

you can do it yourself, all you need is a paperclip
