Bad check valve question?

I can blow through both ends of the check valve that is right in front of the egr. Would this make the car pop back or miss? What effect would it being bad have? Thanks, R.B.

It would allow boost to get to your EGR, AC control head and maybe cruise control. I don't think either would cause notably poor engine performance. If anything, it may allow boost to "escape", and make lower boost, but I doubt you'd notice it other than the sound of a leak while under boost.

I had a friend that had a boost flutter at 3-5 PSI becuase the egr diaphram was getting pulsed due to a bad check valve and egr selenoid. He found the bad check valve after popping his #3 cyl HG twice. Replaced check valve, egr selenoid,.. hasnt popped a HG since..coincidence?? Dunno..

If the check valve is bad, be that EGR solenoid is also toast. The one with the wire connection and little filter.
