Ok i'll take it for a spin as soon as i can and i'll let you know what happens. But im still kind of confused about my fuel pressure. The maf has no affect on fuel pressure so it should still idle at 31 lbs and when the vacuum is removed, the fp should jump to 38-39 lbs. It still doesnt jump up which makes me think that i have a problem.

You're right, MAF doesn't have anything to do with fuel pressure. I see you just changed the pump, so that's an unlikely (although not impossible) culprit. PM me your mailing address. I'll be glad to send you this Bosch 237 FPR. If it fixes it, keep it. If there's no change, send it back to me. I would send it by USPS in a flat rate box. It is used, but it worked the day I took it off my car.

so i took it for a spin and it ran pretty well. I did notice that when driving through town that the blms went from 129 to 150 depending on if i was coasting or going up a hill. I dont quite remember which number represented which. But when i got back 15 minutes later i checked the blm number again at idle and it still read 150. Does this confirm a probable vacuum leak? I am going to check for leaks tomorrow

Yes there is a hairline crack on the driver side header. I'm not going to be able to do anything with the headers anytime soon...but just for curiosity sake, could the crack be repaired? And if so, are headers able to be removed and installed without taking the engine out?

Go to www.vortexbuicks-etc.com and read the whole site. :) your ecm believes you have a lean condition and is adding fuel. You need to figure out why.

I will get the 237 regulator in a USPS flat rate box to you tomorrow. It's possible your regulator is keeping your fuel pressure too low and causing your perceived lean condition. While it's traveling, check (as 3.8L above said) for cracks in your headers, plus vac leaks, loose connections in the air intake tract and anything else you read on vortex buicks website. Steve Wood is one of the true Buick Wizards!

Thanks a lot for all the help. I will definitely give updates with what I find the next couple of days. One last question, is the car ok to drive with high balms and low fuel pressure? It's really low on gas and I was going to fill it up before work tomorrow

This is most likely your issue. It is common to have cracks in the DS header. It is removable without pulling the motor and totally repairable. Just find yourself a good welder. Do a search as there are some very innovative solutions to repairing the cracks that may keep them from happening as easy. As for driving it, you're probably OK as long as you stay out of WOT.

Ok sounds good, I'll post updates as I test things over the weekend. Once again, thanks a lot. I'm trying to do as much research as I possibly can to learn about this car that is 6 years older than I am haha.

Did you get the regulator yet? Try it out?

sorry it took me so long to post up an update. The regulator that dan sent me works great. As it turns out, my fuel pressure gauge may be bad. With the old regulator the car was idling at around 20 lbs. With the new regulator the car idles at 23 lbs on the gauge. So the pressure did raise the three lbs that it was supposed to with the new 43 lb regulator over the old 40 lb regulator (line off). Ttype 6 has helped me alot and has taught me that i can check the o2 readings under full throttle to make sure that it is reading at least 800. Mine reads anywhere from 820-870 so my car is getting the fuel it needs, just running a little rich. At next fill up i am going to fill it with 93 octane as opposed to the 91 that i thought i should be putting into it. The car is running at 15 lbs of boost right now. I still have a high blm issue at idle (150) i am going to check for leaks tomorrow.

Mark, have you ever replaced your cat converter? I know your car has a little bit more miles on it than mine. Idk if it's bad or not with 165000 miles on the car

I gutted it when I first bought my car years ago. If yours were bad you wouldn't be able to make much boost.
