Found out the stock maf was bad. The car had been running like crap the last couple of days. So today I unpluged the harness and the idle smoothed out. I need to drive the car to work tomorrow is it ok to drive arround with it unplugged????? I also noticed the two days I drove arround with it bad It feels like I fouled a sparkplug. It hesitates when I give it gas. Well really I just need to know if it will hurt anything if I drive it with the MAF unplugged. Thanks in advance Robert

Anybody:( should I leave it plugged or unplugged??? Anybody have a good low mileage one for sale?

Napa is a good known replacement for around 100 bucks. I really don't know if it's ok to drive it unpugged.

good luck

It will be fine if you only have to drive on surface streets.

I'd stay off the E-way.

Ya know, all the Mustangs will smell the wounded Buick.....

I dont think you will make it very far if you try to drive it unplugged.

Your best bet is to go with a Translator and LT1 or LS1 MAF sensor and not worry about your MAF going bad on you again.

A temporary fix would be to buy the NAPA unit, but I know that they sometimes do not work well.

When my stock MAF unit went bad, I was stranded and needed to be towed home. I bought the Translator+ with an LS1 MAF sensor and now my car runs better than ever and is actually TUNEABLE now.

I drove mine for a week unplugged.

Not easy and could stall on you.

You will get used to the throttle response and learn to feather the pedal.

Works best on back roads which I have plenty of to get to work.

Highway will be okay at one speed, don't try the nascar drafting and lane changing thing.

Only thing you may hurt is a set of plugs.

NAPA may be a quick solution.

If you have a translator on order then just wait. :)

It'll probably run in Limp Home Mode, which is 4 times as rich, or something like that. The spark plugs and possibly the O2 sensor may suffer. How far do you have to drive? It's a toss up whether to leave it plugged in or not,, might try both ways.
As far as a NAPA replacement,, change it there in case the first one doesn't work,, or try a few and take the one that seems best... Remember to reset the computer(unplug the orange wire by the Battery.) Plus, give the ecm a few minutes to relearn....

That would have been my suggestion too. NAPA rebuilts, contrary to what you're hearing ARE NOT reliable replacements.
They're usually not even the correct one.

Change it right there in the parking lot. If the car runs OK, get your scan tool hooked up so you can see if the BLM cells are anywhere near normal.
