Had trouble with car on the way to work yesterday, it stopped all of a sudden. It started ok but when i go to accelerate from a stop it dies. The only way can get it to move is at an idle, as soon as i push the pedel it dies. The mechanic that takes care of our work vehicles says its the maf but i get no fault codes from the ECM. Is it possible for the maf to be bad and get no code from the ECM?

Yes, it's possible, and seems to happen quite a lot in fact!

Do the MAF test--while it's idling, gently tap the MAF sensor with the handle of a screwdriver. If the engine stumbles AT ALL, or dies, consider it bad!

Next step--check your fuel pressure!

How's your fuel filter? If it's near plugged, it could let enough fuel by to idle but not enough to "run"! Had that happen to my buick...also happened to my wife's mustang once when we were on a rough dirt road. I think the bouncy road shook up the "settled" dirt in the filter, it all glommed onto the filter paper, and that was that...and it up and died. BUT, it would start right up and idle, but would die again if you touched the gas!
