Yup, may not be able to wiggle that sucker off. I remember telling I hope they never have to come off cause doubt it will with moving the engine around/or out.

I had a staring contest today with the valve cover and I lost. I really don't feel like getting underneath the car and start removing motor mounts to wiggle that bad boy outa there. I think I'll do a compression test on it this weekend and take it from there.

Ok. Performed a compression test. #2 (the oily plug cylinder) has 150psi and #4 for comparison was 148 psi. All looks good. Now I just need to remove the valve cover and inspect the valve stem seals. Not gonna be fun with the GN1 valve covers and a/c.

It is a lot easier to swap#2 and #4 injector before you pull that PITA valve cover just be absolutely sure it is not fuel related. Also I would think it may smoke if it have valve seal not seated on the guide or smell like oil.

I guess i can do that first. What are the chances the valve keepers punctured the valve stem seal because the guides weren't properly cut for the valve lift? I remember the we asked the machine shop to cut them for the lift of the cam.

ZERO. There would be valve retainer to guide interference and the engine would not rev. He did em the way I asked and I double check his work. He's done several(15-20) engines for me and I have had no issues with his work.

I have had a few smokers that were all within specs...early on.....and from that point on all guides are cut and positive seals are used with smooth stem valves. That was on Turbobob's brothers car Turbopete.

Swap injectors.....swap coils....swap wires.....before you pull the valve cover since it is a PITA.........just sayin.
