Been chasing down a knock issue for quite some time now and was just wondering if the tps could be and issue, at idle its set at .42 but at wot i only see about 3.7, i thought i read its supposed be be somewhere between 4.5 and 4.9

Yes your TPS needs to be higher your ECm is never seeing WOT therefore you are not getting 100% fuel... I have 4.87 @ WOT..

thanks guys, tried reseting it and still only 3.76, im just buying a new one, sorry still a newbie when it comes to these cars

New GM TP sensors here $29.99 shipped

We've got them in stock, new GM for $29.99 shipped.

Don't buy an aftermarket sensor at Auto Zone, etc - they cost a LOT more and aren't in the same league quality wise.

not to arque but mine was actually a little cheaper at advance 29.48 But in my opinion a few cents more for a gm sensor is well worth it.

You may have to elongate the holes to get to max WOT of 4.85 or so. Your TPS may be fine you just have to tweak it a little. Set your base idle before so you dont have to reset it again.

tps

Hi,
You probably have an issue with the throttle body not opening fully, rather than a bad sensor. Sometimes the throttle valve cable won't let the butterfly come to full open, due to misadjustment. A mechanical problem with the throttle cable and/or pedal could also cause this. Try doing a voltage test from the engine side, sloowly opening and closing the throttle while closely watching the voltage. A steady, linear progression is what you are looking for.
If you hog out the mounting holes and set it for WOT, then your idle TP voltage is going to be way high. I don't think TP is going to cause big time spark knock, anyway.I've had my own issues in this area, and am now in the middle of a rebuild, hoping to correct the problem. You know what? I never hear a peep of knock out of my TTA. Just the Regal.Different heads? I don't know, but will find out, and will keep you posted!

good call, yeah tps itself shows full voltage, but when operated by the pedal its comes up quite short, now for the newbie question, how do you adjust the throttle valve

TV Cable

Hi,
The cable is supposed to be self adjusting. Yeah, right! From my experience,TV cables need to be set to about 13 mm past total stop. I don't know, just respond to what's going on.

ok, well now i broke the pin that activates the tps on the throttle body, looked like it was snapped before and when i went to take the tps off it just fell, how do i fix this now, please dont tell me i need a new throttle body
