My tranny started slipping so i took it to a shop here in Alb,NM. this is the 3rd time in 3weeks ,(i pick it up on friday and by sunday it's done).that it has burned up after getting it back. 1st they changed my Pat's TC for some tc that they sell for a company named Precision of NH. has anyone heard of this company? 2nd-they re-fuse to follow the instructions that i took to them that explains how to rebuild our 2004r. 3rd-up until now they have not wanted to give my money back. but something tells me that will change when they see me on monday 3-24-08. how do i check or what, to make sure they didn't take my BR3 valve body?

I have seen the Precision of New Hampton`s converters. The 9.5 looked just like a Vig. Probably not a bad converter at all. Looked to be very good quality. Also, I have heard good reports from people about them. (not GN`s)

The valves/aluminum sleeves are the only real way to tell if the paint is removed from the v-b. 15, 21, F.

Albuquerque

Who in Albuquerque did you take it to? So others don't make the same mistake. That is a bummer there are only a few people here that know these transmissions. When you ask them if they know these trannies they say ya there's nothin different or hard about them, then you show them some tranny tips and they get offended . The one real good tranny who works out of his house a named guy Pat Baca has seemed to disappear. Hope they reimburse you and you get your parts back. If you get any of your money back, better off spending the extra money and shipping tranny out of state then have some of these outfits around here touch one. You can't tell them anything or show them a printout on modifying our trannies they act like there is nothing more to learn. The same with engine rebuilding around here they will not look at the specs and build your buick to chevy specs.

BudgetTransmission on Wyoming street. ya they said 2004r no problem we can do it. ya right 3 times and still couldn't get it. but today 3-24 I did get my MONEY back. so know i have to decide on Brian-Eric-DRW-Mike, damn out of the frying pan and into the fire. Brian what aluminum sleeves are you talking about, as i didn't see any on the VB sunday when i pulled the pan. unless i missed them, where are they located?

Brian is talking about the aluminum sleeves that hold the shift valves ect. Different valve bodies use different diameter valves so instead of machining the valve body for the different valves, they just use different sleeves that hold the valves. :)

Wow, I'm sorry to hear about that. As a side note, if I were opening a transmission shop, I probably wouldn't call it "BudgetTransmission"

I just had mine rebuilt here in FL and to date no problems Thank God.

I hope things come out better for you

3 times man, that sucks. i rebuilt mine (first tranny i ever touched) in school when i was 19 years old and it still works come up on 20000 miles:D it can't be that bad! of course i did have special interest in it since it was my car:) i used the original 2004r book that our school had and it seemed to work well, and i pressure checked everything i could with 30 psi of air...and godd thing i did that cause one of the pistons seal wasnt quite right once and the piston engaged one side first and then the other! could have been bad. atleast u got ur money back so u can get a great tranny from one of our vendors:D

ya atleast I got my money back. know the deal breaker will be if they kept my valve body, since i know they kept my Pat's TC. they started playing that i don't have it, precision of NH has it. and precision the same verse only they don't have it.Mother Fuskers. if they did switch out my VB, believe me either the owner or manager will loose some teeth, then i'll have to bond out.
