I have an 85GN is losing oil at the rate of 1 qt per 100 miles and lperiodically lays down a large white smoke screen on acceleration. The smoke stops around 20 miles per hour.
I recently had a new stock turbo fail after 3000 miles with a bad real seal which leaked oil into the exhaust and plugged up my CAT. I am now running on a test pipe. The car was loosing oil about 2 qts per 500 miles. I also installed a new rigid uppipe.
I replaced the turbo with a new one and the oil feed line. The car really started leaking oil on the floor and the periodic white smoke screen started. My mechanic told me to get a new oil drain pipe. I did this. When I picked up my car, my mechanic told me to get the original flexibe uppipe. He indicated that the rigid uppipe did not allow the turbo to sit properly on the throttle body. I have a replacment one on the way. The new drain pipe slowed the leaks down but the car still leaks and the periodic smoke screen( It stops at about 25mph) is still there and oil consumption is 1 qt per 100 miles. The turbo accelerated the car very well until 45mph and then it feels like it being smothered. I have the waste gate actuator set to 14lbs boost(new boost gage installed) with 30lb injector with a new GM hot wired fuel pump.
I would appreciate help before I go back to my mechanic. Will the flexible uppipe and properly adjusted turbo solve my problem? Or is this new turbo bad like my previous new turbo? Thanks- Brad
