Hmmmm curious. Pm sent ;)

Just for the record, the oldsmobile and mopar forums that I visit are BOTH complaining about their lack of airtime too. It seems they are going to have to stop having commercials to make everyone happy.

"TURBOTIMMER", don't worry...it's not your PMS...:)... I totally agree with you. I don't like these B-J auctions because all the prices are ridiculously over-inflated (a million for a Hemi-Cuda!......come on... ) On the long run, this will have an effect in each and every small town where car enthusiasts wanting to sell their cars will ask too much for it with the excuse of saying "they sold one like mine at B-J for $xxxx...!
RIDICULOUS!

Claude

P.S: Even if Chrysler only made very few Hemi-Cuda's or even if 1963 being the only year for the split-window Corvette's..., WHO CARES ???...

You can bet when the Buicks run, that's when they will decide to go to commercial break:mad: BJ is just another example of our cars not getting the press they deserve. I keep watching, like an idiot, hoping that any Buick musclecar goes through, but it never seems to happen. In fact, I'm listening to it as I'm typing this. I guess if it ain't a hemicuda or another friggin corvette that was "well bought" for triple what its worth, then it ain't worth the airtime. Ok, my PMS must be kicking in.

Well, clearly SOMEBODY does.

One pet peeve of mine. You know what you car is worth? Exactly what someone is willing to pay you for it.

"87natl", I know someones cares...but definitely not me. I'm more an "enjoyer" of my cars than a "collector"... but don't get me wrong...I do appreciate a car that's well taken care of but I don't see mine as an investment (but more as a money pit!..   ) I prefer by far driving them and even modify them and HAVE FUN with them. One day when I'll die, it won't matter how much my cars will be worth... so I might as well enjoy them!

Claude

Hey I agree. Hard for me to understand these "collectors" that want to take a great automobile and.....PARK IT. What a damned waste!!! Gimme the damned keys!!!!! :D

Green Did You Say Green,,i Saw The Car But I Could Hardly Believe The Shade Of The Green ,,lime Green With A Big Red And Yellow Turbo Sticker On Each Back Fender, wow Was It Flashy,,,,,i Had To Touch It To See If I Was Dreaming...but If You Want To See Nice Cars You Cant Beat A Barrit Jackson Show

Yeah, or maybe slow down on showing every friggin corvette ever built. I think the Olds guys have a ligit bitch just as we do, but the mopar guys? Come on;)

I remember watching BJ about a year ago when a Brown 71 GS stage 1 went onto the block (the first buick musclecar I saw on BJ). The car did $30k. During the commentary, Steve Mignante made the comment that "buick borrowed the 455 from the electra and put it in their A body" and that "they did the best thay could with what they had." That pretty much sums up what the majority of the media thinks about Buicks.

The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. The mopar guys bitch because the only things that BJ airs are hemi cudas (supposedly) and most mopar guys don't have that sort of $$$$. Pay attention to how many mopar A or C bodied cars get airtime. Almost NONE! And B bodies don't get much respect either.

This is only the second auction that hasn't had a TR make the air since 04. Considering that Palm Beach doesn't have near as many hours of coverage, it isn't too surprising that none of the 3 TRs there (two of which were a half hour apart) happened to cross the block during their coverage hours. It's not like they went to a commercial as soon as they saw it. They were off air every time. Believe me, I follow this stuff. I have, saved on my TIVO, all 4 of the TRs that have crossed the block on the air, since 2005. I wouldn't want a hole in my collection. Need to get those and some other buick programs burned onto a DVD to free up some TIVO space, but was waiting for this auction to be over.

And we can't complain about magazine coverage either. These things are starting to pop up all the time in the mags. Not as much as a 1st gen camaro, but when you look at our production numbers it's a miracle that you see any of them.

Like him or not, Steve Magnante is my hero. He gets a detail wrong every now and then, but he puts a TON of work into these auctions to give us some entertainment. He fills out those little pocket flipbooks with information and uses them constantly to show us the details on casting numbers, VIN numbers, and other areas of the car. If you watch him in the background you will often see him looking through one. If he got it wrong there's a good chance it was bad info from someone else. He's a mopar guy and can't remember everything about GM and Ford.

Favorite clip of all time: Him and Mike Joy were looking over a 76 Pontiac Can-Am with like 3000 actual miles. Somebody says "This is probably the nicest Can-Am in existance." Mike Joy replies with "Yeah, but that's like being the best looking girl at MIT."

Did anyone catch that a restored 1969 Buick GS Stage 1 convertible went for $125,000 at this event? That is a record price for a '69! Who said old Buicks can't bring some major coin?
