When people refer to "stage 2" are they referring to the 86-87 componnants? I've been assuming this now I'm not sure. (still getting my feet wet)
I was talking to an engine builder and he had recommended a stage block he said was thicker and stronger- is this the 109? or is it something aftermarket? Also, when I see people on here with 600+ at the wheels, are you able to do that with a 109 and have good longevity? That's my long term goal to build a beast like that.

Stage blocks are motorsport blocks made by Buick. There is also a TA aluminum block that I believe are still available.

Theres a on center and off center stage blocks. If youre looking for a "drop in" block, off center is what youre looking for but its not exactly a drop in.

Definitely not production blocks.

IMO anytime you get close to 11.00 with a production block, youre kind of on borrowed time but there are things you can do to the 109 blocks to make them servive under more horsepower. Girdle, billet main caps, etc.

Are these blocks still produced? I can find an aluminum block for over 6k too rich for my blood.

They havent been produced since the late 80s I dont believe. You can still pick them up but theyre EXPENSIVE.

You can build a 109 block fast enough to scare you a little. :)
