Battery going dead?

Does anyone else experience the battery going dead in about 2 months of storage? This is the second time the car has done this. Both times with a brand new Delco 7yr battery.

My GN started just fine after winter storage but the TTA was dead again. Nothing appears to be left on. Do the TTA's radio memory draw more power?

I haven't started pulling fuses yet to find the source, but was wondering if anyone else had this happen?

I have the exact same problem with mine.....With the exact same battery.My car is usually dead after about 2 weeks of sitting.I even replaced the battery with a new 7yr Delco..Same problem.

One day I will get it figured out....Shawn

Disconnect the negative cable. Only takes a few minutes. Mine sits for 3 to 4 months every year with no problem.

Ya have to disconnect the battery. Or drive the car

Lots of stuff is hooked up to the battery..radio is one for memory..They sell this rotary disconnects that you can install on your battery terminals that lets you disconnect the battery easier.

And you do have some resistance between your Power and Ground cables..this resistance will bleed down your battery. Dont believe me..get and ohmeter and see..

I used to have the same problem, 2 weeks and battery dead....
I removed my the stock radio/cassette unit and installed a CD player instead and the battery lasts much longer .... I have the car sitting 3-4 weeks sometimes as I'm travelling frequantly.

So this seems to have been my problem at least

Same problem here for me with the same battery. My other cars don't give me this problem though, must be the radio or some other TTA specific problem??

Longest I've let my TTA sit is 5 weeks, and yes, the battery was connected. It started right up, didn't have to toss it on a charger. The starter didn't sound weak either.

It must be a TTA thing. My GN and Demon can sit for months without bat going dead. I'm glad it's not just my car that's doing it. I just wonder if anyone has found the cause?. The radio memory was the first thing that came to mind.

RAZOR, I know about the quick disconnects. This is the first car I ever had kill batteries so quickly! I'm not sure what you mean about resistance between neg and pos? I know a volt/amp meter will show the voltage and amp draw when placed in series.

Towman....Just noticed you are in NJ also...That makes 5 TTA's in NJ that I'm aware of..If your interested,After I get my motor finished,We will be having a little TTA get together at raceway park...Let me know if your interested....Shawn

Hi Jan, I just noticed your in the UK. Was your car converted to right hand drive? I'd love to see a pic!

Sure I'm interested! Just give me at least 2 weeks notice so I can get the time off. My work schedule is hell

Yep I'm in the UK, my TTA been in the country since 1996.

Not converted to right hand drive (luckaly , I'm Swedish so I prefer left hand drive There is companies specialising in the conversion from left to right hand drive and I've seen a few Fiero's with right hand drive but it looks weird and as there is no parts (dash etc) it's more or less a patch work....

Only draw back driving a left hand car in the UK is the blocked view trying to pass the car in front of you and of course in car parks where you have to wind down the door window and get the parking ticket (but all you do is pick up a good looking passanger to take care of that one .
